Have a little dino lover? These books will be a hit. All of the dinosaur books on this list are beautifully illustrated and cleverly written. I have carefully chosen them, as there are tons of dinosaur books out there (they’re not going extinct anytime soon).
(You can always find these books at your local library for free. However, if you choose to purchase them, you can support your local bookstores (and this blog) from the affiliate links below.)
Bravery
We have given this book as a gift for every dinosaur loving kid we know! The brave little chicken who stands up to the fierce tyrannosaurus is the funniest and cutest thing. I LOVE this book.
Silly Fun
Okay, so this book is not all that super educational. BUT it is so funny! If funny books get your kids interested in reading, then it is well worth it. You could read this near Valentine’s Day.
Movement
This fun book is also a song! After reading it you can sing the song and march around and pretend to be dinosaurs. OR there is a video by The Laurie Berkner Band on YouTube.
Attributes
This book will remind you of Are You My Mother? by P.D. Eastman. Your dino lover will love comparing the different attributes of each dinosaur to figure out who is in the egg.
Caring for a Pet…Dinosaur
I just love the bright and bold illustrations in this book. If your child is not quite reading yet, they might enjoy this book, because some of the words are substituted with a. It’s such a clever and fun book.
Manners
This is a fun way to learn teatime manners…with a dinosaur! This book properly starts with an invitation and ends with a thank you note. Of course.
Sharing
This was a favorite of ours because our daughter was really into dinosaurs around the time she was starting to play with other kids. We would remind her, “Don’t be a Mine-O-Saur.”
How to be a Farmer
Farming is hard work…especially on a Dinosaur Farm. There are lots of duties that need tending to keep the animals safe and fed. This is another beautiful, silly, and imaginative book you will love.
Bedtime
This is a perfect bedtime book to read or sing to your younger kids. I just love books that are songs. It adds an extra avenue of interest for your child, especially if it’s hard for them to sit still for a long period of time.
Numerical Order
This book has a subtle way of teaching numerical order. Mr. Snore finds all kinds of creatures staying on each floor… first, second, third…The 13th floor will be something unexpected for everyone.
New Baby on the Way?
This is a great gift for a soon to be Big Brother or Big Sister! Taking care of a baby is a big responsibility but there are many things to love about being a big brother/sister, especially if you are a dinosaur.
